Independence Square

The capital’s main square, used for holidays and parades.

The square has been called Mustaqillik, “Independence”, since 1992. From the early 1930s until 1956 it was Red Square, and from 1956 until 1992 it was Lenin Square. The Cabinet of Ministers and the Senate stand on it. The things to walk up to are listed separately: the Ezgulik arch, the independence monument with the Happy Mother statue, and the Memory and Honour court. Opening hours and prices are left blank until someone checks them on site.
